Mangalore, Mar 17: Media has been asked to be careful and publish verified information as they shoulder a huge responsibility.
Addressing the 'Press Club Day' celebration organized by District Working Jpournalists' Association in Mangalore on Saturday, Manohar Prasad, Chief of News Desk, Udayavani said that media can make or mar a person's life with its reportage.
Mr. Prasad said that it takes years for one to make name and a moment to destroy one's reputation. Media must therefore be careful in its reporting.
The veteran, who is at the threshold of his 30th year of service as a journalist, advised fellow media professionals to uphold the ethical standards of the profession.
“We speak about corruption and other evils existing in the society. This makes it all the more important for us to uphold moral uprightness and ethics”, he said.
Sudhir Ghate, Chairman, Magnum Infografiks Pvt Limited, inaugurated the programme. Arjun Kapikad, Tulu Film Actor, also spoke.
Prizes were distributed on the occasion among winners of sports events held recently for media persons.
PB Harish Rai, President, DK District Working Journalists' Association, was present.
