
The cargo, which is manufactured in their plant situated at Shiggaon Taluk of Haveri District, Karnataka has been transported to NMPT in 25 Containers for shipment to Sudan in Africa in the vessel M.V. Tiger Mango which berthed at the Port recently.
The loading of the above consignment was completed and the vessel sailed out. The entire operation was carried out by the handling agents, M/s Cargolinks and CHA, M/s MAERSK. The exporters have indicated a monthly volume of 100 TEUs through NMPT.
Dr. P. Tamilvanan, Chairman, expressing gratitude to M/s Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd has attributed the handling of this new cargo, hitherto moving through neighboring ports, to the pro-active marketing efforts initiated by the Port at various locations of the hinterland during the last few years coupled with the Infrastructure additions and the increase in frequency of container vessels for efficient handling of containers.
As on date during 2012-13, the port handled 45,265 TEUs as against 43,278 TEUs handled during the corresponding period of previous year, registering a growth rate of 4.59 per cent, informed Traffic Manager D. Mahadevaiah in a press release.
