Mangalore, Mar 23: The CPI (M) has decided to field its candidates in three out of the eight Assembly constituencies for the upcoming elections.
Addressing media persons at a news conference in the city, B Madhava, Secretary, CPI(M) District Committee, said that the party will field candidates from Mangalore (South), Mangalore (North) and Belthangady constituencies.
From the Mangalore (South) constituency, the party will field its State Committee member Vasanth Achari while Krishnappa Salian will contest from Mangalore (North) constituency. B M Bhat will represent the party from Belthangady constituency, Mr. Madhava said.
The party will field its candidates from 18 constituencies in the whole state. In Udupi, two candidates are likely to be fielded.
Stating that both BJP and Congress have taints of corruption on them, Mr. Madhava said that CPI(M) intends to serve people of the state and act as the true voice of the labour class in the Assembly, Mr. Madhava said.
MLA candidates Vasanth Achari, BM Bhat, Krishnappa Salian, senior leader K R Shriyan, Sunil Kumar Bajal were also present.
