Cases have been booked at Barke and Bunder stations. A similar incident had occurred in Kottara as well on Friday.
Bhavani (70), a resident of Ballalbaugh was on her way to Sharau temple. As she was waiting for an auto near Ballalbaugh, two policemen came to her and cautioned her to remove the ornaments she was wearing and keep it safe immediately as one elderly name 'Sharada teacher' has been murder for jewelry in the city.
Scared by the incident and paying heed to the warning, Bhavani immediately removed her bangles weighing 48 gms, and chain weighing 40gms and juggled to keep it in the bag. The 'policemen' seeing her plight, politely offered her help only to snatch the gold away. Case has been booked at Barke station.
In another incident, Sumathi Bhujanganath (60) was tricked with the same plot. While she was walking with her grandson to drop him to school, concerned 'policemen' came to her and gave words of wisdom as to how she should be careful following murder of elderly for gold in the city.
While Sumati too removed her gold and tried to keep it safe in the bag, the 'cops' fled with her gold in the pretext of helping her. Case has been registered at Bunder police station with regard to loss of one chain, three bangles.
