Seena K Suvarna, hailing from Kaup in Udupi district had spent almost 23-years of his life in Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, when he met with a tragedy last month at a work site in Al-Hasa.
A skilled mason, 55-year-old Seena had been engaged in a demolition work, when a portion of a giant wall accidentally fell on him. He sustained severe injuries and was shifted to a hospital immediately in a critical condition.
He had been slowly recuperating after undergoing two major surgeries at a private hospital in Al Hassa. However, after spending more than three weeks on hospital bed, he succumbed to death last week.
Late Seena's son Roopesh Suvarna, who is working for a company with Mangalorean ownership in the industrial area of Jubail, spent all these days running from pillar to post to complete the formalities to repatriate the mortal remains to their home town for final rites. His owner also supported him.
Coastaldigest.com team visited Roopesh, took stock of the situation and forwarded the case to IFF volunteers in Al-Hasa, who rendered a helping hand to their mourning NRI brother, who lost his father.
It was too difficult for helpless Roopesh to get the paper works done from Indian embassy in Riyadh, located almost 600 kilo metres away from his work place without the help of IFF volunteers. Late Seena's sponsor too showed humanity by extending all possible support in hospital and in government offices to complete the formalities.
According to sources, the body will be shifted to Dammam today and on Wednesday evening it will be deported from Saudi Arabia and on Thursday it is expected to reach Mangalore Airport through Mumbai.
