Addressing media persons at a news conference held at the district Congress office in Mangalore on Friday, Mr. Khader said that people in the district are up against several problems, especially drinking water scarcity, but officials are finding ways to escape from their responsibilities citing the election code of conduct.
“Areas in Ullal have not received water from the last four days. People in areas such as Kallapu, Pandith House, Shivajinagar, Babbukatte etc have also been reeling due to water scarcity. Officials concerned are not addressing the problem under the guise of election code of conduct. When elected representatives like us try to address the issue, we are warned of the code of conduct being in force too. When such is the situation it is apt that the State Election Commission itself sets up a public grievance cell to address the problems of people”, Mr. Khader said.
“Let the State Election Commission set up the cell and appoint an official who would accept grievances from public and coordinate with the officials concerned in various departments to get the works done and ensure that people's problems are solved. Let this system be in place at least till the new government is formed”, Mr. Khader said.
