On Friday, Somanna informally launched his campaign for the Assembly polls by seeking the support of voters in his home turf of Govindarajnagar constituency in Bangalore.
Somanna is understood to have organised a party workers' convention on Sunday and invited senior BJP?leaders H N Ananth Kumar and R?Ashoka to preside over the event.
Somanna had won the 2008 Assembly elections from the newly created Govindarajnagar constituency as a Congress candidate. Later, he resigned as MLA to join the BJP. However, he lost the subsequent by-election to Priya Krishna of the Congress.
In Belgaum, Agriculture Minister Katti told a convention of his supporters that he had no intention of joining the KJP. “I had never intended to join the KJP. It is all media creation.
I am firm on remaining with the BJP and will contest from the Hukkeri constituency as BJP candidate,” Katti said while emphasising that he would even strive to ensure BJP's victory in the adjoining Yamakanamaradi constitunecy presently held by Sathish Jarkiholi of the Congress.
