Addressing media persons at a news conference in Mangalore on Tuesday, Mr.Permanki said that although it is true that there have been mass resignations in the party of late, the information publicized in media that he along with Hakeem Vamanjoor, Chief Secretary of the party's Assembly constituency unit has also quit the party is untrue.
“Neither the two of us nor any member of the JD(S) from the Mangalore (North) constituency unit have resigned. We have nothing to do with the developments that have taken place at the district level committee of the party”, he said.
On the upcoming Assembly elections, Mr.Permanki said that he is one of the aspirants for the ticket from the Mangalore (North) constituency.
“We have sent a list to State President H D Kumaraswamy which includes my name as well as that of candidates such as Dhanraj and Ghulam Mohammed. We will abide by the decision that Mr. Kumaraswamy takes and support whoever he chooses to field from the constituency”, Mr. Permanki said.
On a query whether he and party activists are happy with district president M B Sadashiva's leadership, Mr. Permanki said that some activists do feel that there are loopholes in the party leadership at the district level but their focus as of now is completely on the electoral battle.
“We are concentrating on giving our best towards helping JD(S) secure more votes. It is the party that is of importance to us and not an individual. We maintain that we stand by the principles of Janata Dal (Secular)”, he said.
