
With this the death toll in the deadliest tanker inferno in Dakshina Kannada district, which destroyed several homes last Tuesday, has risen to nine.
Hospital sources confirmed that 38-year-old Vimala, who had been battling for life breathed her last on Friday morning.
Meanwhile other injured Indira (wife of Sundar Rai), Safiya (wife of Aboobakker) and mother Hajeema are recovering are slowly recovering in hospitals, it is learnt.
No last rite for tanker driver yet
The last rites of the eight victims of Vanitha (38), her son Chithresh (5), Shoba Rai (40), Tailor Guruvappa (30), Sunil (6), Khateejamma (38) and Omni driver Vasanth (40) were performed after the bodies were handed over to the kin on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the body of tanker driver Cheluvaras (35) has been kept in the mortuary of Wenlock Hospital.
