
To mark the occasion, a poetry recital was held where litterateurs like Muddu Moodubelle, J Thimmappa Poojary, K Jagannath Alva, Malar Jayaram Rai, Manjula Shetty and Aravind Bejai read out their poetry written in Tulu.
Kani samarpane, signifying the worship of nature was offered during the celebration. In the programme, 'Dharmasthala Ratnavarma Heggade Award' annually granted by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade were awarded to the winners of Tulu drama contest.
Kadri Navaneeth Shetty bagged the award for the year 2013 for his unpublished work 'Kombu Vani', along with K J Kokradi from Ujire and Shakunthala Bhat from Haleyangadi.
Thitiksha Attavar and Pavithra who scored the highest marks in the last SSLC and PUC examinations respectively, were honoured on the occasion.
M Jayaram Rai, Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor, B Damodar Nisarga, Nitte Shashidhar Shetty and Ganesh Amin were present during the programme, which was followed by various cultural events.
