
These cases have been registered with the district administration, police department and the excise department.
As of Sunday, the district administration received 50 complaints from the time the model of conduct came into force, while the excise department and office of Superintendent of Police have received 39 and five respectively. One complaint has been lodged with the Mangalore city police commissioner.
With 17 complaints, Mangalore constituency recorded the highest number of cases, while Bantwal received the least with nine complaints.
Since the day the elections were declared in the state, the district excise department has conducted as many as 164 raids, and has booked 39 cases. A total of 23 persons have been arrested for illegal manufacture, transportation, distribution and sale of liquor. Four vehicles have been seized by officials of excise department including two auto rickshaws, a car and a jeep, in connection with this.
As per taluk wise figures, highest number of complaints have been lodged in Bantwal with 13 complaints. The least number of complaints have been lodged in Belthangady and Puttur constituencies with three complaints each.
Providing meals to Congress members in Moodbidri constituency, distribution of money by BJP members in Mani (Bantwal constituency) and convening a political party meeting in Adyar (Mangalore North constituency) are some of the complaints lodged as violation of model code of conduct in the district.
