The leaders and their supporters have been expressing their anguish in their own ways. While the leaders openly accused senior party members of practicing corruption in ticket distribution, their supporters in some places indulged in violent protests.
Supporters of M Anjanappa in Chikkaballapur vandalised the district Congress office. Angry protesters smashed window panes, shattered doors and furniture, threw stones and shouted slogans against senior Congress leaders all along. The party has allotted ticket to K Sudhakar, a supporter of Krishna.
In Bhadravathi, a supporter of sitting MLA B K Sangamesh threatened to commit suicide by jumping from the roof of a building after the legislator was denied ticket. Hitting out at senior party leaders, especially C M Ibrahim who got the ticket from that constituency, Sangamesh declared that he would contest as an independent.
Meanwhile, the party's decision against granting ticket to Ravindra Srikantaiah from Srirangapatna, in accordance with actor-politician Ambareesh's demand, has triggered a crisis in Mandya. Srikantaiah is considered a supporter of Krishna. Upset over the party's decision, Krishna has decided to keep off the Congress campaign.
His supporters in the district party unit have also decided to follow suit. Krishna is a member of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee election campaign committee. He did not attend the official launch of the party's campaign at Malleswaram in Bangalore.
