
He was speaking to media persons during his visit to the Congress party's Mangalore (South) Assembly constituency election office in the city on Thursday.
Mr. Moily said that he had campaigned for the party across the state in 2008 too. Compared to then, the support of the masses has grown twofold for the Congress party this time, Mr. Moily said while predicting an electoral victory for the party with a huge margin.
On rebel candidates contesting elections in good numbers this time, Mr. Moily said that people possess more information about the candidates than party leaders and activists. They are intelligent enough to know whom to vote and will choose the right candidates. As far as the Congress party is concerned, all attempts were made to pick the right candidates after several rounds of consultations and keeping the aspect of social justice in mind, Mr. Moily said.
When asked about Kapu veteran Vasanth Salian turning his back on the Congress, Mr. Moily said that the party had not been unjust to him. Mr. Salian was given ticket 7 times by the party. He served as an MLA for five terms and as minister twice. There is no substance in allegations that the party was unjust to him. People of Kapu are aware of this, Mr. Moily opined.
