Inaugurating the events, Laxmi Memorial Education Trust President A J Shetty, lauding the nursing profession said that it is a noble and respectful profession because it is a service to humanity.
“Nurses should discharge their duties with utmost care and concern with responsibility and social commitment,” he said adding that the real purpose of nursing is served when they ensure effective healthcare delivery system in the rural areas. Further, it is a very rewarding career and has great demand around the world, he added.
Later he awarded certificates to the graduates and congratulated them.
Principal of city based Pandyaraj Ballal College of Nursing Dr. Asha Shetty was the guest of honour. In her address, she urged the graduates to enhance their skills and knowledge by engaging in regular research and study and become innovative in their approach. She also called upon the fresh graduates to uphold the ethics, ideals, noble values practiced and propagated by Late Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in nursing.
Chairman of Athena Institute of Health Sciences R.S. Shettian in his presidential address said that the management is committed to provide quality education to the students by providing required infrastructure. Later, in commemoration of their decennial celebrations he launched 10 new schemes and projects for the benefit of the students. Secretary of the Institution Asha Shettian awarded prizes to the academic and sports achievers.
Principal Sr. Jacintha D'souza presented the annual report and later administered the oath reciting ceremony to 150 fresh graduates. Vice-Principal Sr. Alphonsa welcomed the gathering.
