Speaking to media persons here, Mr Aslam, who was the Dakshina Kannada District Minority Unit President of JD(S) confirmed that JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy had suspended him and District General Secretary Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe from the primary membership of the party allegedly for anti-party activities and misbehaviour in the party meeting.
“There was a rumour about my suspension and now the party has confirmed it through a letter. I was not an aspirant for the party ticket for coming State Assembly elections. Still party was keen to give 'B' form to me as I am a sincere party worker from 2004, but few leaders including Amarnath Shetty warned party leaders of resigning from the party if they gave 'B' form to me. He was in third place in last State Assembly elections and has no moral right to ask the party ticket. It seems that he is against minorities,” Aslam said. About Chengappa's contest, he said: “I don't know how he will win. He is not a member of the party. They are going to miss around 7,500 minority votes this time,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rameeza Nazeer, one among the two JDS corporators alleged that the party leaders are not responding to the problems of the party workers. “Mohammed Sawad, a boy who worked for the party was injured in a crackers burst incident and died after one month. We requested our party leaders to meet the victim, but they never did it. This is not fair,” she said.
