Responding to a query on 'Operation Kamala' at a news conference held at the district party office in Mangalore on Saturday, Mr. Gowda said that although there is general sense of guilt in the BJP circles about 'Operation Kamala', the Congress is not far behind because it has initiated a process of 'Reverse Operation Kamala' in the state this time.
“Operation Kamala was inevitable then. We have admitted in the past that it was an unpleasant thing to do, but if you see today, there is 'Reverse Operation Kamala' taking place. The very same people who criticized us for it have resorted to the same approach themselves. What has happened in case of Shakunthala Shetty in Puttur? It is reverse operation,” Mr. Gowda claimed.
Mr. Gowda took on Union Minister M Veerappa Moily, who had while campaigning for the Congress party in the district recently stated that he is ashamed of introducing himself as a former chief minister of Karnataka as the BJP led state government had tarnished the name of the state with its corruption and maladministration.
“I was fortunate to have got the opportunity to serve six crore Kannadigas as their chief minister and even after stepping down from the post, I feel it was an honour. To say that he is ashamed of being called former chief minister of the state speaks about his level of thinking and personality. It is an insult to the people of Karnataka. Mr. Moily is a minister in a government which has indulged in corruption and scams amounting to crores of rupees. On moral grounds, it is apt for him to quit the cabinet and step down as minister since he is part of such a corrupt government”, Mr. Gowda said.
