Mangalore, Apr 24: Former president of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) and permanent invitee of the BJP National Minority Morcha N B Aboobakkar said that Rs 1,313.96 crore had been released to the Karnataka Minority Welfare Department during five years of the BJP's administration in the state, which had helped around 14 lakh beneficiaries.
Addressing media persons at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that several schemes had been implemented for the benefit of minorities in the past five years through Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation to improve their social and financial status.
With the sole intention of bringing the minorities to the mainstream, a total of 1,89,904 beneficiaries have been provided with Rs 327.94 crores by the BJP government during its five-year rule, through various schemes.
Around nine lakh students were provided with scholarships upto Rs 360 crores, in collaboration with the Central government. Over 67 crores were granted to around 320 organisations for the construction of community halls. Several schemes were implemented such as construction and management of new hostels for post-metric students, provision of study materials in schools for students, conducting survey of property belonging to Wakf Board, provision of facilities in prominent Dargahs, student wages and incentives for female students from Muslim community, construction of Hajj Ghar for Hajj pilgrims, provision of education loans for students and others, he said.
On the occasion, Aslam, Imran and several others were inducted into the minority wing, in the presence of MLC Monappa Bhandary, Rahim Uchil, Anwar Renu and others.
