
Hajamma who had lost her husband was living with her six children at Perne. When the mishap occurred, Hajamma's daughter-in-law Safiha too was injured. But, according to sources Safiha has been responding to the medication well so far. However, a three-month-old child who was with them escaped the mishap miraculously.
The Perne Tragedy had claimed six lives on the spot, when the gas tanker of HPCL fell down the gorge and the fuel in it leaked unleashing havoc. Four people had succumbed to injuries later in different hospitals in Mangalore. However, the death toll after Hajamma has shot up to 11.
