Chikmagalur, April 27: Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter has said that he would be going to rule Karnataka as the CM with full majority after looming Assembly polls.

Speaking to presspersons here, he said “the party leaders have projected me as the Chief Minister, if party returns to power. I have been touring the State and people have been expressing their support to the BJP. The BJP will win at least 125 seats.”

Fearing defeat in the Assembly polls, KJP leaders have started levelling false allegations against BJP leaders. Dhananjay Kumar's allegation against L K Advani is a part of political conspiracy. “The BJP is not dependent on any individual. No one can stop the BJP from coming back to power in the State,” he said.

Later at a party workers convention, he said “the Congress is the main opposition for the BJP. The condition of the Congress is pitiable. It has failed to project a leader to lead the party in the Assembly polls. If it announces the CM's candidate, then it will split. Dr G Parameshwar, Siddaramaiah, S M Krishna, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Jaffer Sharief and Shamanoor Shivashankarappa are in the race for Chief Minister's post. However, they will be disappointed by the voters as voters will not elect the Congress,” he said.

The CM said “the JD(S) is not confident of coming to power in the state. Hence, its leaders are claiming themselves as king makers. Even the KJP will not win the election on its own. The KJP is working for the defeat of the BJP.”

Stating that as a minister C T Ravi has done a commendable work in the State, he said that Ravi had changed the face of Chikmagalur.

Higher Education Minister and candidate C T Ravi said “I have not entered politics for power. It was the party which gave the ticket to a person who has been fighting for the cause of the people. As an MLA I did not keep quiet. I had taken up development work. When I was elected, Sakharayapattana did not have a bus shelter. After getting elected as an MLA, I ensured that Sakharayapattana got a hi-tech bus shelter. Concrete roads have been laid in each and every village in my constituency.”

Kannada Development Authority Chairman Mukhyamanthri Chandru also spoke.

District BJP unit president M K Pranesh, ZP President Rekha Huliyappa Gowda, former president Prafulla Manjunath and others were present.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
