
Stating that the party is supreme than individual, Mr Shetty said that the Congress has given him the posts and positions of honour and hence it is his duty to be faithful and loyal to the party.
“When I was denied ticket, I was hurt. A section of supporters did insist on me contesting as an independent candidate. Several episodes did unfurl after that but what held me back from going against my party is the feeling that my party is my mother and no mother will hope ill for her child. The Party leadership did convince me that though ticket has been denied this time, I would be given greater responsibility in future,” said Mr Shetty adding that he has toured with Moideen Bava in about 23 wards for campaigning.
“The people are pointing at various failures of the incumbent MLA and what is surprising is the fact that several BJP partyworkers themselves have expressed their wish that Congress should come to power,” he said alleging a section of BJP workers of attacking the Congress party workers after seeing the pro-Congress wave in the region.
