Speaking to media persons on Friday, Mr. Shetty claimed that the BJP activists have been successful in communicating the achievements of the BJP government to the people. There was good response from the voter community and Modi's visit has only strengthened it, Mr. Shetty said.
Echoing BJP National Vice President D V Sadananda Gowda's sentiments that Congressmen are fighting among themselves, Mr. Shetty said that rebellion within the Congress will prove beneficial for the BJP in this election.
Responding to a query, Mr. Shetty said that he had quit the BJP owing to unhealthy developments such as 'Operation Lotus'. But now, only core BJP members are in the BJP.
Monappa Bhandary, MLC, took on senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary on the occasion for his constant anti-Modi jibes.
“Who is he to tell us whether Modi should be invited to Mangalore or not? Do we have to obtain permission from Congressmen to invite people for our campaigns? Hasn't the Congress invited chief ministers of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to campaign for them? The more Mr. Poojary speaks against the BJP, the more loss it will cause to Congress” he said.
