Mangalore, May 8: During the last Assembly election he had lost by a romping 16,000 votes but Congress' MoideenBava is not one of those who would settle with a defeat.
Contesting for the second time from the same constituency and against the same opponent, Bava won over Mangalore South constituency by defeating BJP MLA Krishna J Palemar with a margin of 2420 votes.
There were a bunch of aspirants for Congress ticket, of whom the most important was former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty. While rumours were rife that hurt by denial of ticket Mr Shetty was working against Mr Bava, the results have proved all such rumours wrong.
One thing worth mentioning is that when the name of Mr Bava was finalised by the party high command, only 16 days were left for campaigning. He also spent two days clearing off the tangles within the party and waited for Vijay Kumar Shetty to personally launch the election campaigning.
He also had to spend two days taking rest because of health issue, which means, Mr Bava had just 12 days for campaigning.
Bava's victory is a lesson for the Congress party itself. It speaks clear and loud that if united then Congress party can defeat anybody.
