Mangalore, May 26: Beary litterateurs realizing the need to strengthen research and study of the language, demanded setting up a Chair for Beary Language Study and Research in Mangalore University.
Inaugurating the Beary 'Chiri-Chuktuku Goshti' at Srinivas Hotel in Mangalore on Saturday, Journalist B M Haneef said that if Beary language dies, then even the rich Beary culture will cease to survive. With the sole aim of protecting the language and the culture, there is a need to conduct research in the language as much as possible.
“Due to the Beary movement, the younger generation has been made aware of the rich language. We have to remember the struggle that went into making Beary Academy. We have to make sure that the Academy works sincerely for the betterment of the language and the culture,” he said
Beary Sahithya Academy Honorary President M B Abdul Rehman presided over the programme. Mangalore North MLA Moideen Bava and Mangalore MLA U T Khader were felicitated by the Beary Parishat.
Kendra Beary Parishat President B A Mohommad Haneef delivered the keynote address. Four students were given with scholarships during the programme.
Hameed Kandak, U A Kasim Ullal, Abdul Rehman Kuthetoor, Khalid Tannirbavi, U H Khalid ujire, M P Bashir Ahmed Bantwal, Mohommad Sharief Nirmunje, Hussein Katipalla and others took part in the literary meet.
Work for language
Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader accepting the felicitation said that Beary Academy and the Parishat must toil for the betterment of the language.
“We have to remember that a minority candidate could become a MLA and a Minister due to support of the majority. This kind of support must be extended by the majority even for the growth of a language like Beary, which is spoken by the minorities,” he said.
