The incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. The Maruti Omni car, bearing register number KA-19, Z-7962 was parked at a makeshift shed adjacent to a house.
Sandhya Raj, the owner of the car said that he had never imagined that the compound wall would collapse on the car.
Fortunately there was no one inside or near the car during the incident, he said.
It is understood that the rain had caused the soil on the slope to loosen. As a result a portion of a compound wall, that was built during last year's rainy season collapsed.
Local corporator Praveenchandra Alva visited the spot.
Heavy rains continued to lash Mangalore and other parts of coastal Karnataka on Sunday.
