Bangalore, Jun 20: The elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to BJP's campaign committee chairmanship has had its cascading effect on B?S?Yeddyurappa's KJP.

The KJP?on Wednesday said it was “open” to an electoral alliance with BJP for the forthcoming Lok?Sabha elections. “We had closed our doors totally for any sort of alliance with BJP. Now, with Modi being made campaign committee chairman, we will keep our options open for an electoral alliance with BJP,” KJP?Campaign Committee Chairman?Dhananjay Kumar told reporters here.

Kumar, however, hastened to add that KJP will not merge with BJP. “We will protect our political identity. There is no question of any merger,” he said. Modi is the only BJP?leader Yeddyurappa has openly admired even after quitting BJP and launching his own political outfit.

Yeddyurappa is learnt to have sought to meet Modi sometime next week at a mutually convenient location. The RSS,?on the wishes of a section of a few BJP?leaders has already held one round of talks with Yeddyurappa to explore the possibility of bringing him and his followers back to party fold.

Yeddyurappa is expected to give a positive response to BJP just ahead of Lok?Sabha polls, if there are indications that NDA could come to power at the Centre. Reacting to Kumar's statement, BJP State President Pralhad Joshi in Hubli said no BJP leader has held any talks with KJP on electoral alliance.
