Mangalore, Jun 25: The students of Government Women's Balmatta, took out a protest march and staged a human-chain in the city on Tuesday to exert pressure on the state government to appoint lecturers in government PU colleges.
The protest was held under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Holding saffron flags and placards the students marched from their college in Balmatta to the office of Deputy Commissioning.
The protesters accused the state government of disregarding the problems of student community.
“It has been two weeks since the PU colleges affiliated to Mangalore University re-opened. However, no permanent lecturer has been appointed so far. The appointment process of guest lecturers also delayed,” said one of the protesters.
The protesters also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner. The demands of the protesters included speedy appointment of permanent lecturers in PU colleges, grant of necessary infrastructure and commencement of classes.
