However, strong restrictions imposed by the Saudi authorities for expatriate workers to avail the benefit of amnesty, have proved to be a hindrance for many Indians in regularising their situation or leaving the country without facing fine or arrest.

Mr Khader also requested Indian Consul General in Jeddah Faiz Ahmed Kidwai to take up the issue with Saudi authorities and ease the deportation process of expatriates.
As per the conditions laid down by Interior and Labour Ministries of Saudi Arabia, whoever entered the Kingdom after January 7, this year and against whom 'Huroob' (runaway from sponsor) cases were filed before April 20 this year are not eligible for amnesty benefits. Moreover, stranded expatriate workers, whose 'Iqama' validity is not yet expired too cannot get benefit from the amnesty.
If all the conditions were met, the application will be sent to the original sponsor of the amnesty seeker to confirm whether he is wanted in any criminal cases. Only after clearance from the sponsor it will be forwarded to 'Jawazat' for the issue of exit visa. Later the amnesty seeker will be sent to deportation centre, from where they will be sent back to India.
