Third accused in Manipal gang-rape arrested; attempts suicide

Udupi, Jun 27: The police, who had arrested two main accused in Manipal gang-rape case earlier in the day, has managed to arrest third main accused.

Anand, the third accused in kidnap and rape of a medical student in Manipal, was arrested by Udupi police Thursday evening at Badagabettu, Parkala, a suburb of Udupi city.

Ironically, Anand too attempted to commit suicide when the police zoomed in on him.  The police arrested him and rushed him to a private hospital in Manipal for emergency treatment.

Earlier, police had arrested Yogish, an auto-rickshaw driver and his accomplice Hariprasad. Yogish also had attempted suicide to evade arrest.
