
Mangalore, Jun 30: A sixty-year-old woman was killed and five others sustained injuries in a collision between a goods train and a tourist tempo at an unauthorized railway crossing in Adyar on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Dulaika (60). She did not respond to the treatment and breathed her last in a private hospital where she was being treated after the incident.
The injured-Thahira (40), Noor Nidal (8), Hussaim (25), Mumthaz Begam (35) and driver Harish (51)-are recuperating at the hospital.
The condition of Noor Nidal is said to be critical.
Apart from driver all the injured are family members.
The tourist tempo, bearing registration number KA 19 C 5811, was on its way from Amibika Road to Neer Marga when the incident took place.
It is said that the goods train rammed into the tempo at an unmanned railway crossing in Adyar. The tempo was crossing the railway tracks when the mishap occurred.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash visited the spot. He also visited the hospital along with MLA of Mangalore North Constituency Moideen Bawa.
