Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, BCF president Dr B K Yusuf said that an approximate sum of Rs 22 lakhs would be distributed among 650 students as scholarship this year.
Students pursuing SSLC, degree, post-graduation and others courses such as medicine, engineering, nursing, pharmacy, management, journalism and dentistry will be awarded with the scholarship irrespective of caste, creed and religion. These students will be chosen on basis of their poor economic background and excellence in their field of study, he said.
The scholarship distribution event will be blessed by Khazi Shaikhuna P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal. Several guests of honour from coastal Karnataka and UAE such as entrepreneurs Dr Thumbay Moideen, Hassan Darvish, Fakruddin Ajman, Praveen Shetty and Zakaria Bajpe, and ministers B Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Vinay Kumar Sorake and Abhaychandra Jain, and others such as B A Moideen, Y Abdullah Kunhi, B Ahmed Mohiuddin and B M Farookh.
This event will be preceded by career guidance seminars by educationalists on job opportunities abroad in various streams from 9.30 a.m. onwards on Sunday, he said.
Patron of BCF Mumtaz Ali, scholarship committee chairman M E Moolur and general secretary Dr Kaup Maohammed were present.
