They urged the government to control raising prices of commodities and strengthen public distribution system in state.
Addressing the protestors, district president of WPI, Zahid Husain said increase in the price of essential commodities including food grains and petrol has affected commoner.
“First time in history prices of every commodity have peaked to 50 to 250 percent in country. Wrong policies adopted by UPA government resulted in fall in rupee value in international market”, he said.
Despite assuring that there was no measure to increase the prices of petrol and diesel, central government hiked fuel price in 120 ration for 19 times and it is a heavy burden on commoners. As a result major amount reaches government as a tax. There was no justification for increasing the price of petrol and diesel frequently, he said.
Corporates purchasing agricultural products directly from farmer and advanced booking payment is unethical business and it will help in raising price, he said and added that the government must have regulatory policies to control it.
