
Through the medium of colours, the artists painted their feelings on how river Nethravati has been the source of life and how Yettinahole project can smother the river, on a 50 mtr long banner.
As many as 28 like-minded artists came together to take part in the spot painting event organised by Department of Botany, St Aloysius College and Karavali Chitrakala Chavady.
Dinesh Holla, an artist and kite enthusiast of international repute briefing about the event said that the workshop has been organised with the aim of spreading awareness on the Yettinahole project and importance of Netravati river.
"Through this we are educating students about the demerits of the project and effect on water bodies on Western Ghats," he said.
ML Suresh Nath,HOD , Department of Botany, St Aloysius College speaking about idea of workshop said that they are trying to awaken the students towards the issues concerning the nature and environment. "With the help of experts and artists we are trying to convey as to how harmful project will ruin the Western Ghats and dry away the drinking water source of Dakshina Kannada”, he said.
"Proposed project will damage forest as well as water bodies and we are trying to spread the message through painting” says artist Ganesh Somayaji.
Artists like Rajendra Kediga, Johan Chndra, Anil Devadiga, Santhosh Andrade, Harish Kodialbail, Harish Marne, Jeevan, sapna Noronha, Rachana, Sandhya Yogesh, Naveen Bangera, Pramod Raj, Jeevan Kumar, Suresh poojaty, Punik, Narayana, Jayashree, Naveen shrinivas, Naveen Kodialbail, Ajay Udupi and others were present.
