Mr Jain addressing the reporters in Mangalore on Thursday said that it has been learnt that the antique idols stolen from the Basadi have been traded in Chhatisgarh through an international businessman. The robbers had stolen 15 idols of which three have been recovered in its original form while one has been recovered in melted form.
"The accused have said that the idols can be recovered only from Chhatisgarh. But, to do so the Chhatisgarh government has not been co-operating," he said adding that the remaining idols cannot be recovered without the help of Chhatisgarh police. The case has to be handed over to the CBI.
With regard to increasing theft instances in Moodabidri, Mr Jain said that shortage of manpower in the police department and lack of efficiency is resulting in such cases.
