Bangalore, Sep 16: Jnanpeet Awardee U R Ananthamurthy has declared that he will not want to live in India, which will have Narendra Modi as its Prime Minister.
Releasing 'Anusandana' and 'Devara Guttu' books written by Prof Baragur Ramachandrappa, at B P Wadia Hall, in Bangalore on Sunday, Mr Ananthamurthy said that the communal BJP has decided on Modi as its PM candidate.
"Modi can neither reflect the ancient India nor can he build a model India. I will have no belongingness to India represented by Modi. I, in fact will not like to live during that period," he said adding that any person who had read Nehru's 'Discovery of India' and has social consciousness will not want Modi to become the PM because Modi does not have the capability to build the India which was dream by Nehru and Gandhi.
He called upon the Congress and the voters to join hands to keep communal forces at bay.
Mr Ananthamurthy opined that revolutionary thinking is not accepted by the communal political fractions.
With regard to writings of Mr Baragur Ramachandrappa, URA said that his writings are thought provoking in nature, which have the strength to root out the evils in the society.
"Bagragur's writings against communal forces are very superior. However, Bandaya Sahithya has not received the kind of response that deserves to get," he said.
Critic Dr V K Narayan said that since the writings of present day lack purpose, the literature produced nowadays has become like coins minted by Tuglak rulers.
"Creativity in writing is the need of the hour," he said lauding Baragur for fearlessly writing about contemporary issues and crisis.
Former chief minister S M Krishna said that while the entire world remembers Visvesvaraya for building the dam across river Cauvery nobody remembers Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar for pledging the gold in his treasury to get the dam built.
