Navin Kumar (28), resident of Neril in Vamanjur is the deceased. On Friday morning, Navin's dead body was found hanging from the ceiling, at his father-in-law's house at Malemar near Derebail. While Navin's family leveled allegations against his in-laws, the cops nabbed Narayan, Navin's father-in-law and Sumithra, his wife's aunt. They were produced before the Court.
Reason
Navin worked as an aluminium fabricator. He married a girl named Mangala from Malemar two years ago and then started living at Malemar, in his in-law's place. But, three months ago, he had shifted to Vamanjur. Navin had a habit of spending time till late night with his friends at Konchady club. However, as against his routine, on Friday night, Navin who stayed at Konchady mid-night left the place abruptly without informing his friends, following a phone call.
He had been to his wife's house, where his wife had allegedly demanded divorce from him.
His relatives say that this must have sparked a fight between the two leading to murder of Navin.
They say that to hush up the matter, Mangala and her family members must have hung him, to make it seem like a suicide. Kavoor police who are investigating the matter had sent the body for post-mortem.
Frustrated
It is said that Navin was disheartened by his wife's behaviour. Further, her persistent demand for divorce had driven Navin into depression and to come out of his unchanging reality, he had resorted to spending maximum time at Konchady club with his friends.
It is said that on the night of Navin's death, the same episode must had taken place. Mangala must have demanded for divorce over the phone and must have called him over to her house at Konchady. Since Mangala's brother too had come to Malemar on the same day from Bangalore, it is believed that the crime was executed in a well-organised manner.
In the entire episode, Mangala's aunt Sumithra is believed to have played a major role. She did not only poison Mangala's mind against her husband but also forced her for a divorce. Mangala had sent a divorce notice to Navin a month ago. Responding to this Navin had torn off the notice and had clearly told Mangala that he would not part ways.
Raged by this, Sumithra had several times threatened Navin of dire consequences, alleged Navin's family.
Navin and Mangala had fallen in love with each other and married with the consent of both the families. However, Sumithra was against this marriage. Following the marriage, Sumithra had even left the house and gone away. She only returned five months ago.
