
Mangalore, Sep 29: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Oscar Fernandes had to wait for more than three hours for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a party meeting organised by Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee at Rosario Hall in the city on Sunday.
After the district review committee meet, the Chief Minister arrived at 6.45, though he was supposed to reach there at 3:30 p.m.
While addressing the party workers CM issued stern warning against moral policing. He said, “I have already issued an order to police department to maintain law and order in the state and curb moral policing.”
Speaking on the issues of areca-nut growers, he said, due to 90 days rain fall in district around Rs. 250 crore loss has been caused for areca-nut growers, as per the central committee report.
Central government has already decided to release a package for areca growers. In addition to this the state government will also release a special package for growers, he said.
He said that the issue of refugees from Sri Lanka, who migrated to Mangalore seeking caste certificates and other basic amenities, will be solved soon.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare, UT Khadar, Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Youth, Sports and Fisheries, K Abhaychandra Jain, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, B Ramanth Rai among others were present.
