The entire village is basking over the success of a lad who has not seen luxury but having known the problems and aspirations of the people around him, he has certainly made an attempt to find an answer.
Rasheed's design of'Rolling Tiller' will take him to Delhi to represent the region in a National level Science competition, in October. For Umar Farooq and his wife Khateejamma, their son's accomplishment has already brought lot of honour in and around the village.
The design of this seventh standard lad is nothing less than being marvelous. It is a multi-purpose machine, which does not bank on any fuel. The best part of the machine is that it is too handy, to the extent that not just men but even women and kids too can use this machine and plough the field without any hassle.
“The machine uses only muscle power,” says the designer Rasheed talking about his machine.
When asked as to what made him design this machine, the young lad has a very thoughtful thought to share.
“The place where I stay is not very well connected with roads. Hence bringing a tractor or a power tiller to the field is a distant dream for the people here. Even if they manage to bring one, they have to pay huge amount as rent. I knew these issues very well. Hence I wanted to design something that could come as an answer for the problems faced by the agrarian community here. Hence I discussed it with my teachers and designed this machine,” he says paying gratitude to his teacher Anasuya who guided him.
