He was shifted to the hospital for the fractures he had sustained while escaping from the prison.
“We conducted an orthopaedic surgery on his legs some weeks ago. He has recovered now and is getting discharged on Monday,” Dr Shivaswamy, Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital said. Jaishanker was nabbed on September 6 while he was resting in a shanty near Kudlu Gate. He was remanded in judicial custody later.
“ We have identified a high security cell where he would be kept after he is brought back to the prison. We will lodge him at the Parappana Agrahara Prison and there is no question of shifting him to prisons in Belgaum, Mysore or Bellary,” Gagandeep said, when asked about the possibility of shifting Jaishanker elsewhere, ADGP?(Prisons), K?V Gagandeep told Deccan Herald. He said Jaishanker was under the surveillance by City Armed Reserve (CAR) police.
He would be lodged in a high-security cell where two guards would be deployed round the clock. CCTV cameras would be installed inside his cell to monitor his movements. The lock and the key would be too far from the door as he had used a duplicate key to open the cell door and escape, said the prison authorities.
Jaishanker, who is involved in more than 20 heinous cases including murders and rapes, used a duplicate key to escape his high security cell in the prisons on September 1.
