Mangalore, Oct 13: The RSS' march past in Bajpe area, led by four men carrying sword has irked the local residents who have said that the incident created a sense of fear.

They are also irked by the fact that, while the'sword march' was taken out on the streets of Bajpe, on Friday the Bajpe police witnessed the entire show as mute spectators, exhibiting their loyalty to the Sangha.

The RSS started its primary training on October 6 and after six days of training, they took out a march past on Oct 11 from Vijaya Vittal Bhajana Mandir to Sunkadakatte, wherein four persons were carrying swords in their hands near the organization flag.

Questioning the leeway given to the organization as against the existing laws that prohibit individuals from possessing fatal weapons, one Abdul Hussainar from Bajpe has filed a complaint with the Bajpe police.

He in his complaint has said that it did not just cause fear among the local residents but could have led to disturbing the communal harmony in the region.

The local residents have said that while the men carrying weapon led the March past, with several strongmen guarding them, the police too gave security to them along the four km stretch of the march past.

The training was held at Sunkadakatte SNS High School playground. The school too supported the organization by extending all possible help. The school also provided its van to the organization for commuting the trainees.

Security

However, clarifying the same, Bajpe Inspector Narasimhamurthy said that it is a tradition of the organization to have four men carrying sword near the organization flag, which cannot be question at all.

“Two persons have filed complaints against this,” he informed.

Look into it

Panambur ACP Ravi Kumar said that the department will check if the March Past of the organization is held in the same manner in other parts of the state.

“We can initiate legal action only on ascertaining that aspect,” he said

PFI alleges RSS of attempting to disturb harmony in district

Endorsing the view of the complainants, Popular Front of India district President A M Athaullah said that legal action must be initiated against the organization for creating a sense of fear among the onlookers.

He alleged the RSS of deliberately attempting to create tension in the district.

The rally was intended to do the same.

“It gives wrong message to the society,” he said and demanded police to provide security to public.

“There are all possibilities of one section trying to disturb harmony as festival of a minority community is approaching,” he said informing that the

According to a complaint filed at the CEN police station, Leo Jerome Mendonsa, who has been working in Dubai for the past 15 years in computer accessories sales, maintains NRI accounts in Karkala and Nitte.

On November 12, 2025, Mendonsa was added to a Telegram group called Instaflow Earnings by unknown individuals. Users identified as Priya and Dipannita persuaded him to invest in “Revenue Tasks.” Initially, Mendonsa transferred Rs 1,100 multiple times and received the promised returns, encouraging him to continue.

On November 14, another user, Nishmitha Shetty, directed him to register on a website, digitvisionuoce.cc, and invest Rs 4 lakh in various shares. Over the next few days, he made multiple transfers totaling Rs 12,25,000, including Rs 50,000 via Google Pay, believing the scheme was legitimate.

After receiving the money, the alleged handlers stopped responding, and neither the invested amount nor the promised profits were returned.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
