Speaking to reporters here on Friday, he said that the organisation would hold street plays and public seminars on women empowerment, collection of signatures, protests and a safety walk. ABVP activists will also distribute pamphlets on women's safety, he said.
The activists will conduct a survey in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu districts on exploitation of women in two years and submit the findings in a report to the government seeking further action. ABVP will also submit a memorandum to the President of India seeking measures on women's safety, he briefed the mediapersons.
“In recent days, violence on women like instances of acid attack, murder and rape have become rampant. The union government should take stern measures to control violence on women,” said K Ramesh.
He urged that the Ujire rape and murder case should be handed over to the CBI for investigation. Even after a year, justice has being denied to the victim Soujanya and her family, he stated.
Ramesh also urged the police department to speed up investigation into the mysterious death of Akshata, a second year degree student of Venkataramana Government First Grade College in Mangalore.
