
Mangalore, Nov 8: One of the two terrorists who had kept three persons as captives in a under construction building near Rozario school was gunned down by the Centre for Counter Terrorism (CCT) personnel, Bangalore with the help of local police.
The captives were successfully released by the team of police, thereby foiling the plans of the terrorists.
While the scenes of the operation went on school children and onlookers remained hypnotized wondering what was going on. The scenes were that of a mock rescue operation conducted here.
Two persons staging the role of terrorists named Kalim and Rahim Bhatkal gunned down the watchman of Vishwas Sahara Heights building in the area and kept three persons as captives here demanding release of Yaseen Bhatkal, the arrested Indian Mujahideen member.
They also demanded the police to arrange a flight for their departure from the city and a ransom of Rs 10 crore.
At about 12 noon, police team led by IGP (western range) Prathap Reddy arrived at the spot.
Joining hand with the CCT team, the cops plunged into action and in exchange of fire, one terrorist was gunned down while the other was injured.
The CCT has been conducting training in Mangalore over the last three days.
