
Mangalore, Nov 9: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the future course of action to the new draft law -The Karnataka Prevention of Superstitious Practices Bill, 2013 will be taken only after reviewing the draft copy and discussing it in the assembly session.
The chief minister during his visit at the Mangalore international airport on Friday said that so far no committees have been formed in this direction.
“We have received two draft copies of laws from The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), which has been involved in the preparation of anti-superstitious bill,” he said
Speaking about the rape and murder case of PU college student of SDM Ujire, Siddaramiah said that as per the request from the victim's parents and some associations, the case has been handed over to the CBI.
However, responding to the query with regard to rape charges on BJP MLA representing Sringeri, the CM said that he was not aware of the rape charges filed against Sringeri MLA Jeevaraj in Chikmagalur.
Asking the sugarcane growers from Belgaum district, old Mysore region and other sugarcane growers in north Karnataka to remain calm, the CM said that the sugar cane supportive prices will be fixed scientifically within two days and farmers have to maintain peace.
With regard to a letter written to him by Belthangady MLA Vasanth Bangera citing issue of land grabbing in Dharmasthala region, the CM clarified that he has not received any such letter.
