
The police were deployed in the Masjid premises from morning itself.
The devotees who turned up at the Masjid early in the morning for the prayers did not leave the Masjid till the Juma prayers were offered.
The faction which has been opposing the Juma prayers in this Masjid too had turned up at the Masjid in the morning itself but the group was denied entry by the supporters of the Masjid. It is said that when this episode took place the police were not at the spot.
The opponents who were around 50 in numbers remained inside the Masjid premises till about 8 am and they were later asked to leave the premises by the police. The action of the police led to an altercation.
At about 1 p.m. the crowd that had gathered at New Masjid left to Central Mosque while the ones who offered prayers at Mohiuddin Masjid were out.
On Thursday, a meeting of religious leaders led by Bekal Ustaad was held to find solution to the Mohiuddin New Masjid issue.
New Masjid President Musthafa Abdulla said that they had urged to see to it that the prayers are continued without any hindrance.
The problem had cropped up after Wakf Board passed an order stating that the Juma prayers at new Masjid must be stopped. Soon the issue was taken up at the High Court.
“We are ready to abide by the HC order. We will neither oppose the move taken by the police here,” said Ullal Dargah Administrative Committee Vice-President Ashraf.
Meanwhile DCP who visited the new Masjid said that a meeting will be held on November 12 to solve the existing crisis.
