Bangalore, Nov 18: Expressing shock over the rampant rumours of so called'Love-Jihad' spread by communal forces and right wing outfits like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, progressive Muslim organisations have warned that the hate-mongers will be pulled up at the court if they continue to spread the hoax.
Addressing a news conference at Press Club of Bangalore, Mission Possible spokesperson and president of Discover Islam Education Trust (DIET) Umar Shariff said that over the last few days several reports are being published with regard to the alleged role of Ayisha Banu from Panjimogaru in Mangalore, her conversion from Hinduism to Islam and hence her alleged role in the Patna blast.
With the Hindu organizations linking the same and tagging it to be'Love Jihad' case, he said that the intention behind such rumours is to disturb the peace between Hindus and Muslims and that such false claims will only create mistrust and suspicion amongst members of different religious communities.
He said that the theory of "Love Jihad", which is propounded by such communal groups is a mere concoction and has no supportive evidence.
“While certain media have been stating that Ayisha Banu was arrested for her alleged role in bankrolling the recent Patna blasts, the top police officials of both Karnataka and Bihar have clarified, that her arrest was in connection to her alleged involvement in illegal financial activity, though no corroborative evidence have been produced even to that effect,” he said.
Taking exception to the manner in which Ayisha, a mother of three was paraded by the police along with her four-month old infant in hand, Mr Shariff said that the police did not have evidences to prove her involvement in any such illegal activities and yet she was treated like a criminal.
He further questioned the need of the police to have dragged the accused to Bihar, while all the investigations could have been done in Mangalore itself.
When asked about his opinion on Ayisha Banu case, he replied, "We have nothing to say about her case, there is law and the law will take its course." He said his (Mission Possible) opposition is only towards those who are creating the hoax of “Love Jihad”. "We will take legal action against those spreading such hoaxes," he emphasized.
