Mangaluru, Nov 3: Even a day after two under-trials were hacked to death in Mangaluru sub jail by fellow inmates, police have failed to recover weapons used for the murder.

Under-trials Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty, who were in the prison for past five years, were brutally murdered allegedly by a rival gang inside the jail on Monday morning.
Responding to the queries of media persons in the city on Tuesday Additional Director-General of Police (Law & Order) Alok Mohan said that no weapons used in the murders had been recovered by the investigating police so far.
The weapons may have been hidden somewhere inside the prison premises or thrown outside by the accused. It is yet to be ascertained. The entire prison is being scanned and metal detectors have been deployed to recover the weapons if they are hidden inside the premises, he informed.
Replying to the allegation that the murder weapons had been supplied with the help of prison staff, he said that the current situation was abnormal where murders were committed inside a prison with sharp lethal weapons. A lot of speculation can be done but the truth will be known after the investigation is completed, he replied.
He rubbished the allegation that a pistol had been found in the possession of deceased undertrial Isubu in the prison.
IGP (Western Range) Amrit Paul, Commissioner of Police S Murugan, Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Sharanappa and others were present in the press conference.
