Mangaluru, Dec 23: A Bajrang Dal leader, who posted a derogatory message against a social activist in Mangaluru, silently removed his post hours after the latter brought the matter to the notice of police.
Puneeth Raj Kottari, co-convener of Bajrang Dal, Mangaluru, had posted a misogynistic comment on his Facebook wall comparing Vidya Dinker, Co-ordinator of Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development to Hindu mythological antagonists on Tuesday.
The post appeared after Mangaluru South Police Station registered a complaint against Bajrang Dal activists based on a complaint submitted to Mangaluru city police chief S Murugan against the communal miscreants who forcefully prevented the screening of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale at various film theatres in the coastal city.
Besides indirectly calling Ms Dinker as ‘Shurpanakha’ and ‘Putana’, Mr Kottari went on threaten her that Bajrang Dal activists would not hesitate to go to any extent.
Ms Dinker, who noticed the provocative message, immediately sent its screenshot to the top cop of the city requesting him to look into the matter.
“Puneeth Raj Kottari, said to be Co-convenor of Bajrang Dal in Mangaluru has put up this Facebook post with my photo about an hour ago. This is in retaliation I gather for submitting a letter to you last night with other concerned members of CFMD. I am also given to understand that some of the comments by others under his post amount to threat of physical violence against me. Kindly look into the matter,” she texted the commissioner on WhatsApp.
After sometime, the derogatory post disappeared from Mr Kottari’s Facebook wall. However, it is not yet known whether police have taken any action against the accused.
