Mangaluru, Apr 5: U T Khader, minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, has sought Karnataka home minister’s intervention in the alleged third degree torture by police in Mangaluru.

On Tuesday the police had canned the protesters of Popular Front of India, who were demanding action against the cops responsible for the current condition of Qureshi, whose kidneys have also been reportedly damaged. Police had arrested Qureshi in connection with a murder attempt case.
Mr Khader said that if Qureshi has committed any crime, police has all the right to arrest and interrogate him. However, if police had committed any mistake, state home minister G Parameshwara should intervene and take necessary action.
The minister also said that he had already spoken to Mangaluru City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar in connection with the case and he had assured a fair probe into the matter.
