Bantwal: Schoolteacher booked for assaulting student in the class

Bantwal, Mar 14: A teacher of a school at Mogarnad in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district has been booked for alleged corporal punishment.

According to a press release from Superintendent of Police B.M. Laxmi Prasad, during a social studies class at the school on Tuesday teacher Abdul Khader is said to have found a mistake in the notebook of the student.

The teacher allegedly pressed the head of the student and hit him on his neck with his hand. The student returned home in the evening with pain in his neck and legs. His uncle took him for treatment to the Government Hospital in Bantwal where the student filed a complaint.

The Bantwal Town Police have registered a case under Section 323 of Indian Penal Code and under Section 75 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act.
