
Puttur, Oct 4: Veteran freedom fighter Bolladi Ibrahim Haji passed away on Sunday at his house at Olamogru village in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada.
He was 99 and was survived by four sons and two daughters.
Ibrahim Haji reportedly accompanied Mahatma Gandhi in 1934 when the father of the nation arrived in Puttur as a part of his freedom struggle.
Ibrahim joined Mahatma Gandhi and accompanied him till Bengaluru. He had spoken about taking India’s freedom struggle in an interview himself.
Ibrahim was a former member of Olamogru Gram Panchayath and has also served as the secretary of the Shekamale Jamaat.
He also took part in several movements of farmers in the state and was a member of the State Farmers’ Union until his death.
