
Mangalore, Aug 18: Activist and retired chief officer of Bantwal Town Municipality H A Saleem Assadi breathed his last on Sunday after a brief illness at a hospital in Dubai. He was 86.
He had recently flown to Dubai to take part in his grand son's wedding ceremony and other family functions.
Saleem Assadi had served as chief officer at various local bodies in Dakshina Kannada district including Bantwal, Mulki, Saligrama and Kundapur.
He was also the president of the management committee of Noorani Masjid at Kumpala. Hailing from Haleyangadi, he had settled in Kotekar Ambika Road.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, three daughters and a large number of relatives and friends.
His final rites will be held on Monday evening in Dubai, said his elder son H M Afroz Assadi.
